Are you considering a career in home care? If so, take a few moments to hear about the reasons why this can be such a positive, life-changing decision. In this article, we share some of the many benefits of choosing a career in the home care sector, showcasing why we believe it is the best one in the world!
A career in Home Care is an incredibly rewarding one
If you’re looking to follow your professional ambitions while also making a tangible difference in someone’s life, a career in home care is for you.
It is a rare thing to go to work each day with the knowledge that every little job you complete and interaction you have can significantly boost the quality of life of another human being. As far as job satisfaction goes, it doesn’t get much better than that!
The benefits of a career in Home Care
As a Home Support Worker, you will find that no two days are the same. The nature of your work means you will be providing care to a variety of different service users, whose needs differ from day to day, so your work is always interesting and engaging.
A career in home care also allows you to master many different tasks. From assisting high-dependency individuals to completing light household tasks that allow a person to maintain their independence, your everyday job description will be varied and person-centred.
If the nine-to-five work model doesn’t suit you, the flexibility that care work offers might be incredibly appealing. The job is based on the needs of our service users. We run our service from 7 am to 10 pm seven days a week, which means that you can create a working schedule that suits you, balancing day and evening hours as well as weekdays and weekends. This provides great freedom for staff those trying to balance family and other responsibilities around their work schedule.
At Blanchardstown and Inner City Home Care, we offer premium rates for hours worked after 5 pm Monday to Friday, and also Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays.
Home Care is an in-demand sector
In 2022, Ireland was listed as the fastest ageing country in Europe.
This unusual accolade is down to a combination of extended life expectancy and a decreased birth rate. With the 85-plus age group expected to increase dramatically in the coming decades, the need for workers in the home care sector will continue to rise.
There is a lot of work available between care providers, the HSE and the Department of Health to ensure that the sector develops and will be ready to meet this demand.
Choosing a career in home care means you will always be valued
Making a true difference in the quality of someone’s everyday life means you will always be valued by those you work for and those you work to help. When it comes to the former, there is no one better placed to truly understand and appreciate the work that you do than your employer.
With over 21 years of experience providing care for the elderly and others with specific needs in our community, Blanchardstown and Inner City Home Care are fully aware that the job involves far more than just the completion of tasks.
This is why every member of our team is focused on going above and beyond to ensure our clients feel safe, independent and comfortable in their own homes.
